Howard Walthall, Alabama's 1819 Constitution: Marking the Bicentennial of the State Constitution Enabling Admission of Alabama as a State.

Howard P. Walthall, Sr., AB '64, LLB '67, is Professor at Law at Cumberland Law School, Samford University. He holds the Leslie S. Wright Chair. His teaching assignments and research interests include state constitutional law, including Alabama state constitutional law. His AB in history and LLB degrees are from Harvard. He has held various offices with the Birmingham Harvard Club.
 
There may be much critical attention paid to Alabama's constitution this year. Understanding its history will be crucial to appreciating its evolution to date and into the future. This will be an outstanding presentation and discussion with the eminent historian and co-author of Alabama's Supreme Court and Legal institutions: A History and From Maverick to Mainstream: Cumberland School of Law. Professor Walthall serves as Director of the Cumberland State Constitutional Law Project.
