Nonprofit Concierge
Volunteer at the Birmingham Public Library to advise on nonprofit organizations. Teach introductory courses on nonprofit topics.
As part of our connection to community, we are partnering with the Birmingham Public Library to provide resources on nonprofit organizations that serve socioeconomic needs in the Birmingham region. This involves staffing the Nonprofit Concierge desk every Thursday from 10 AM to noon (except holidays) in the Business, Science and Technology Section, third floor, to answer questions about nonprofits; helping library staff compile information on nonprofits and their services; and offering free Accelerator Classes on methods to strengthen nonprofit capacity, such as how to start a nonprofit (3 January); how to write grant proposals (21 February); assessment and evaluation (7 March); logic models and theory of change (4 April); and tools for social change (2 May). Nonprofit Concierge and Classes are all on Thursdays. Please email John Whitman if you have nonprofit expertise and would like to be involved.
