Virtual Lunch & Learn: Tyler Barnett with New Schools for Alabama
A virtual discussion event
Our August Virtual Lunch & Learn will continue the theme of education. Please join us for a discussion on charter schools with Tyler Barnett of the New Schools for Alabama.
Tyler is the founding Executive Director at New Schools for Alabama, the state’s first charter school support organization. At New Schools for Alabama, Tyler supports the growth of excellent public charter schools to ensure that every child in the state has access to a quality public education. He serves this mission by strategically cultivating and supporting new, high-quality school leaders, by advancing policies that foster positive conditions for charter schools, and by engaging community members in the movement. Prior to leading New Schools for Alabama, Tyler served as the chief charter school development strategist for the Home Region of the Walton Family Foundation in Arkansas. He has also worked as an education policy consultant for the KnowledgeWorks Foundation, and he has worked in two state educational agencies—in the Missouri Department of Education as Director of the Office of Educator Quality and in the Illinois State Board of Education as an Education Pioneers Fellow. He began his career in education teaching high school English in Memphis City Schools with Teach for America, and he is a proud alum of the University of Missouri School of Law.
