Harvard Divinity School professor David Carrasco will give an illustrated lecture on a major turning point (500 years ago) in early 'American' history--the Spanish conquest of Mexico aided by the devastating pandemic that began in 1521. The talk will link the small pox and measles plagues brought to the Americas by Europeans with the other ‘plague’ of the theory of natural slavery that swept through Spain, Mexico and eventually north into the American colonies. Presented by the HEAA, this event is free, but you must register in order to receive the Zoom link for the event. Registration closes 3 hours prior to the event. Click here to register.
