The Year Ahead

Top Priorities for 2022 Lead to Three New Initiatives

It's been six months since I took over the helm, and I've enjoyed meeting (albeit mostly virtually) many alumni and current students. It's been great to get a first-hand perspective on the Club and what would make the most impact to folks personally moving forward.

.

To take that one step further, I reached out to my colleague Mike Brown of Brainzooming and asked if he would donate his time to facilitate a strategic brainstorming session, using their proprietary tool. He graciously said yes.

.

In January, a group of 17 Club Members used the Blast! tool, which speeds up the process of idea generation and strategic planning, to collect ideas to shape the Club's efforts in 2022. In the 30 minute session, the group generated a whopping 226 ideas surrounding our current goals. Those ideas were then distilled into themes.

.

Then, board members met last week to vote on the Club's top priorities for the year, which will be:

1. Connecting and Networking with fellow alumni both virtually and at in-person events and activities regionally and throughout the state.

2. Engaging with current Harvard students in all schools and programs, including graduate students, part-time students as well as those pursuing certificates and executive education.

3. Facilitating internships for current undergraduate Harvard students at businesses within Alabama.

.

Kicking off these priorities is the introduction of three new ways to connect and network:

.

Meet Fellow Members One-on-One with Club Connections
Did you know there are nearly 1,000 Harvard alumni in Alabama? Get to know others by registering for our new Club Connections. Provide your contact info on this form and you'll be matched with another alum to set-up a one-on-one conversation. Current students are welcome to participate as well.
.
Be a Featured Alumni/Student
Help us expand this website to showcase our alumni by telling us about yourself here. The content you provide will be transformed into an alumni profile which will be featured on the home page, in our e-newsletter and in the profile section of our website. In these profiles, you'll have the option to share your contact info so others can connect with you.
.
Share your Alumni/Student News
Changes happening at your company or in your career? Have a significant personal event you'd like to celebrate? Have some other news that your fellow alums would be interested in? Share it here.

.

Special thanks to Mike Brown, who facilitated, and Brainzooming for donating the Blast! session to the Club, allowing us to gather a diverse group from throughout the state in a virtual environment and move the creation of our annual plan forward quickly.
