Alumni Spotlight On Chuck DiLaura

Harvard Business School Program for Management Development ('91)

“The PMD program at Harvard taught me to listen to other people’s ideas then collectively make important decisions, it also began my focus on quality, safety and people centric leadership.” – Chuck DiLaura

As an executive with Neptune Technology Group, Chuck was encouraged to attend the rigorous PMD program at the Harvard Business School by the company President recognizing that his career would be an upward projection within the organization. His PMD class involved 108 business executive students from around the world, conducting 175 case studies during the intensive 3-month period on campus in Cambridge. Chuck later became the President & CEO of Neptune Technology Group located in Tallassee, AL; a leader in North American water metering systems, where for over 17 years he successfully navigated a total of three ownership changes that occurred during his tenure as President & CEO. Impressive for someone that started out as an hourly employee with the company 41 years earlier to later become the company’s President & CEO.

.

Chuck retired from Neptune Technology Group in 2017; however, retirement has not slowed down his volunteer service in the Montgomery community. His business knowledge and leadership skills are instrumental for his volunteer service and leadership roles with several boards and education initiatives in the community. For example, he has served as the Chair and Vice Chair for the non-profit Hope Inspired Ministries (HIM) and is currently the Board Treasurer. Hope Inspired Ministries is focused on training and supporting individuals that have experienced chronic unemployment in their efforts to return to and to excel in the workforce.

.

In addition, Chuck currently serves on the Board of Child Protect an agency focused on alleviating the impact of child abuse and neglect. Recognizing the connection between the business community and public education strategies, Chuck has been involved in several efforts to connect and support educational improvement having served on the Alabama Workforce Council (AWC) and as the Vice-Chair for the Alabama Committee on Credentialing and Career Pathways (ACCCP).

.

He is also involved with organizations that support and engage military and veterans such as the Wright Flyers and Alabama World Affairs Council (AWAC) that brings a series of distinguished national and international speakers. Chuck is also on the Alabama Shakespeare Festival (ASF) board and a member of the Committee of 100, a business development arm of the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce.
